My Bible Studies

June 4, 2006 was Graduation Sunday at our church.  The semon was on character.  The basis was Daniel 6:1-10. Here are my notes.

Character: The complex attributes that determine moral values

Main Points:

Ø      Character is more then talk

o       You need to walk the walk for your talk to talk.

o       You cannot separate a leader from his actions

Ø      Character is a choice

o       We create character when we make a choice

Ø      Thought Conditioners- What we think comes out in actions

o       Luke 18:27 Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

o       Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

o       Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

o       Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

o       Philippians 4:11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

o       Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

 Other Thoughts:

Ø      Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.

Ø      Education is a life long process- don’t give up

Ø      Character is something to work hard for- build it up

Ø      Make the choice to have character as a vitally high priority- pray for it

The reward is Jesus- to hear him say ‘Job well done, good and faithful servant.’

Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. Daniel 6:10
